Northeast’s celebration of Women’s History Month and Literacy Month

Northeast Elementary School in Amityville recently wrapped up its celebration of Women’s History Month and Literacy Month with a series of inspiring guest readers.
The initiative highlighted the importance of both recognizing the achievements of women and fostering a love of reading from an early age, helping young students connect with role models while developing essential literacy skills.
Among this year’s guest readers were Superintendent of Schools Dr. Gina Talbert, Ms. Mary Stephens, the district’s assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction, Amityville Memorial High School Assistant Principal Dr. Maria Vineyard, and Board of Education President Ms. Lisa Johnson. Many other administrators and local elected officials also joined the fun, sharing stories and engaging students in interactive reading experiences.
Students were thrilled to read along with these community leaders, gaining insight into different careers and celebrating women’s contributions across all fields. The district extends heartfelt thanks to all guest readers for volunteering their time and making this year’s celebration meaningful and memorable for Amityville’s youngest learners.
