Author visit sparks imagination during Park Avenue’s PARP Celebration
Park Avenue Memorial Elementary School in Amityville brought stories to life as part of its PARP celebration with a special visit from author Justin Colon.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to learn about Colon’s journey as a writer, including how creativity, perseverance, and imagination play a key role in developing engaging stories. Through interactive discussions, he encouraged young learners to embrace their own ideas, use their imaginations freely, and find their unique voices in writing.
The event not only inspired a love of reading and storytelling, but also reinforced the importance of creativity in the classroom. Students left the presentation feeling motivated to explore their own storytelling abilities and bring their ideas to life on the page.
The district extends its gratitude to the PTA and the Amityville community, whose support and collaboration made this memorable and enriching experience possible for Park Avenue students.
