E.W. Miles Students Explore Hispanic Heritage Through Art, Music and Trivia

Edmund W. Miles Middle School students celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month through a series of interactive sessions that brought culture, history and tradition into their social studies classes.
Students rotated through activities focused on art, music and trivia, giving them different ways to explore and appreciate Hispanic cultures. Ms. Breitfeler led a craft and art activity where students learned about Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) and explored some of the artistic traditions associated with the observance, including sugar skull-inspired artwork. Students also participated in an interactive trivia session with Ms. Cesiro and explored music with Ms. Ashe.
By incorporating hands-on activities into the school day, students had an opportunity to connect what they learn in the classroom with the traditions, artistic expression and cultural contributions of Hispanic communities.
The celebration was another way E.W. Miles continues to create meaningful learning experiences that encourage students to explore different cultures, broaden their perspectives and celebrate the diversity within their own school community.
