Pre-K and kindergarten students at Northeast Elementary School recently welcomed members of the North Amityville Fire Department for an important lesson on fire safety.

Firefighters and EMTs spoke with students about staying safe around stoves, matches and lighters, and reviewed what to do in an emergency, including Stop, Drop and Roll. Firefighters also showed students what their protective gear looks like so they would know what to expect and not be afraid if they ever saw a firefighter during an emergency.

Students ended the visit with an exciting up-close look inside a fire truck, making the lesson both educational and memorable. Thank you to the North Amityville Fire Department for helping our youngest learners build important safety awareness.
