Tri-M Music Honor Society Launches Peer Mentoring Initiative

Members of the Amityville Memorial High School Tri-M Music Honor Society recently helped welcome the district’s newest student-musicians to the performing arts program.
On Sept. 25, Tri-M members created greeting cards for fourth grade band and orchestra students who are just beginning to learn their instruments. Each card included words of encouragement, helpful advice and messages of excitement from older students who have already experienced their own musical journeys.
The project is the first in a series of peer mentoring initiatives planned for the school year. By connecting younger musicians with experienced student mentors, the program is designed to build a stronger sense of belonging, increase motivation and provide additional support as students develop their skills.
Through these connections, Amityville’s student-musicians are helping to strengthen the performing arts community across grade levels while encouraging the next generation of Tide musicians.
