The Amityville Tide Class of 2026 sets sail into a new era

A sea of red caps and gowns filled the Amityville Memorial High School football field on June 27 as the Class of 2026 made history as the first graduating class to carry the name of the Amityville Tide, marking a new era for the school community during its commencement ceremony.
Under shifting skies that held off just long enough for the ceremony to conclude, graduates crossed the stage to receive their diplomas as family, friends, faculty and staff looked on in celebration.
The ceremony honored hundreds of graduates for their academic achievement, perseverance and dedication throughout their high school careers. Valedictorian Cristian Chicas and salutatorian Elidi Laquidara addressed their classmates, reflecting on resilience and the journey that brought them to graduation day.
Amityville Memorial High School Principal Dr. John Cardone, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Gina Talbert and Class President Sage Stephens also delivered remarks recognizing the accomplishments of the Class of 2026 and the strength of the school community.
Throughout the ceremony, the Amityville Memorial High School band and choir provided musical selections that underscored the celebratory occasion.
Assistant Principals Dr. Maria Vineyard, Angelica Rodriguez and Mary Frances Hopkins also recognized graduates earning academic distinctions, including the New York State Seal of Biliteracy, AP Capstone Diploma recipients and students committing to service in the U.S. Armed Forces.
As the first class to graduate under the Amityville Tide identity — formerly the Amityville Warriors — the Class of 2026 leaves behind a legacy defined by transition, pride and new tradition.
The Amityville Union Free School District congratulates the Class of 2026 and wishes its graduates continued success, happiness and fulfillment as they set sail toward their next chapter.
