A celebration to remember: Northeast introduces Pre-K Prom

Dressed to the nines in exquisite dresses and sharp tuxedos, Northeast Elementary School’s youngest learners and their teachers in Amityville stepped into the spotlight on April 30 for the school’s inaugural Pre-K Prom celebration.
An event filled with joy, laughter, and unforgettable first memories, the celebration transformed familiar school spaces into magical experiences. The school cafeteria was reimagined as a vibrant photoshoot studio, where students smiled for class photos onstage and posed with their families in front of a colorful backdrop thoughtfully created by pre-K class parents. Nearby, the gymnasium came alive as a lively dance floor, glowing with music, lights, and a festive party atmosphere.
Students delighted in a glow-in-the-dark prom experience featuring a professional DJ, while enjoying snacks and drinks provided by the PTA. District administrators joined in the celebration, stepping onto the dance floor alongside students and teachers while sharing in the glow-in-the-dark fun. Special giveaways added to the excitement, and the event concluded with a lunch and ice cream treat for all pre-K students.
The celebration brought together pre-K students, families, staff, PTA members, pre-K class parents, and district administrators in a heartfelt display of community and connection — marking a meaningful milestone in the students’ early educational journey.
