Northeast celebrates Earth Day with a creative schoolwide Gallery Walk

Northeast Elementary School in Amityville marked Earth Day on April 22 with its annual Earth Day Gallery Walk, transforming the school into a vibrant showcase of student creativity, environmental awareness, and hands-on learning.
Classrooms throughout the building displayed a wide variety of student-made recycling projects, inviting classes to take part in a schoolwide tour to explore each other’s work. The hallway exhibits featured imaginative creations such as piggy banks crafted from coffee cans, binoculars made from paper tubes, interactive recycling stations, bird feeders designed from milk cartons and sporks, and colorful Earth Day posters displayed outside each classroom.
As students traveled from room to room, they not only admired the creativity of their peers, but also deepened their understanding of sustainability and the importance of caring for the planet. Adding to the festive atmosphere, many students proudly wore decorative Earth Day crowns, bringing an extra touch of fun and school spirit to the celebration.
The annual event continues to be a meaningful tradition at Northeast, encouraging students to think creatively about recycling and environmental responsibility while celebrating Earth Day in an engaging and memorable way.
