Northeast Elementary School holds inaugural Thanksgiving Day Parade

Thanks to the creative spark of Northeast Elementary School kindergarten teacher Christine Bloom, the school celebrated its first-ever Thanksgiving Day Parade in Amityville on Nov. 27.
In preparation for the parade, students dove into the story behind the famous tradition by reading “Balloons Over Broadway” by Melissa Sweet and watching a clip of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Inspired by what they learned, each class crafted its own homemade balloons and Thanksgiving-themed creations to debut in the big march.
The parade brought joyful energy to the school as students proudly walked with their colorful projects, and the excitement grew even more when a very special guest, Santa Claus, arrived to help kick off the holiday season.
