Grandparents Day celebration at Northeast Elementary School

Northeast Elementary School in Amityville turned learning into a family celebration on Nov. 7 as students welcomed their grandparents into the classroom.
The school’s annual Grandparents Day gave visitors a chance not only to watch lessons unfold but to become part of the day’s activities alongside their grandchildren. Throughout the day, grandparents toured the pre-K and kindergarten classrooms, joining students at their tables and on the carpet for hands-on fun. Guests helped the district’s youngest learners color pictures of grandmas and grandpas, assisted with seasonal crafts inspired by autumn, and settled in for cozy story time sessions.
The event created plenty of opportunities for smiles, shared creativity, and meaningful moments between generations — helping strengthen the connection between school, students, and families.
