On Jan. 26, first graders at Northwest Elementary School in Amityville worked in teams to research different animals on the app, PebbleGo.

Students also watched National Geographic videos as part of this unit, and they wrote letters to a zookeeper asking why they think certain animals should be at the zoo. First graders used the app, ChatterPix, to present their letters, and QR codes were made for their videos.

Ms. Cohen’s class partnered with Mrs. Hammerschmitts class, and they viewed each other’s classwork by using the iPads to teach students how to scan a QR code.
