Amityville Athletes Honored at Spring Sports Awards
20 National Scholar-Athletes Recognized
Amityville Public School District athletes who participated in the spring athletic program were honored for their performance and dedication to their teams and sports. Members of the varsity baseball, girls and boys track, and junior varsity boys tennis, softball, and baseball teams shook hands with their coaches as they received their individual awards. Most impressive were the twenty student-athletes recognized as National Scholar Athletes. To be named a National Scholar Athlete, a student must maintain a 90 percent or better average for three quarters of the school year and participate in sports and an additional school or community activity.
“You should be proud of being from Amityville,” stated Athletic Director Ronald Forman. “You are all ‘scholar-athletes.’ Put the same effort into your academics as you do on the playing field, and you will be successful.”
