Renowned Motivational Speaker Visits Amityville Educators

The New York Times describes him as “a blend of philosopher John Dewey, evangelist Billy Graham and comedian Bill Cosby,” but for teachers and staff in the Amityville Public School District, Dr. Zacharie Clements was one of them for a day. The Amityville staff had the opportunity to be rejuvenated and revitalized by the inspirational words of Dr. Clements, whose unforgettable presentation used experience infused with humor to lead the audience to reflect on serious subjects that are timely and relevant. “As a society, we keep trying to change performance in education, but you’ll never achieve greatness until you adopt a positive attitude about being among the privileged few in charge of educating our students,” stated Dr. Clements during his address. “Find something you love to do and you’ll never work another day in your life.” Dr. Clements shared many motivational and inspiring ideas with Amityville educators, advising them to count their blessings, not their failures, and to never give up on old-fashioned values. He also provided tangible solutions for dealing with commonly faced issues in the world of public education. The district hopes to invite Dr. Clements back to Amityville as part of their ongoing staff development program, to work with staff in a smaller, more intimate group setting.
