AMITYVILLE STUDENTS SHOWCASE THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS DURING PRIDE DAY
The Amityville school community came together to celebrate the students’ accomplishments during the district’s annual Pride Day, held on the grounds of Amityville Memorial High School. The high school Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Mr. Chris LaMarca, entertained those in attendance while families, who accompanied the many young award winners, mingled over a barbeque.
“Pride Day is an annual tradition when we take time out to celebrate the accomplishments of our talented students,” Amityville Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Williams stated. “The district would like to thank the community for joining us to support our students.”
District Director of Fine Arts Fran Fernandez led groups of students onto the Town of Babylon’s mobile stage. Parents cheered for the flawless and entertaining performances of student-musicians in the Northeast and Northwest Elementary School choruses, the Park Avenue Memorial Elementary School Drumline, the Edmund W. Miles Middle School seventh and eighth-grade marching bands, and the Amityville Memorial High School mixed choir and jazz band. After each performance, the names of student award recipients were announced to the delight of proud family and friends.
