Preparing Students for the College Application Process

Amityville Memorial High School Hosts Mini-College Fair

Future collegians attended the annual Mini-College Fair at Amityville Memorial High School, where they spoke with representatives from approximately 75 local and regional colleges and universities. The students received brochures, filled out questionnaires, and asked pertinent questions about the programs of study offered by their choice colleges.
Guidance Director Patricia Hausfeld explained that the high school has been preparing members of the junior class for the college application process. Counselors have been meeting individually with juniors and working with them on application timelines. “The staff was also encouraged to dress in their alma maters’ shirts and to speak with students during class about their experiences in college,” Ms. Hausfeld stated.
