Amityville HS Jazz Band Honors the Memory of Dr. King

The Amityville Memorial High School Jazz Ensemble spent their day off from school honoring the memory of the late Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with a performance at the Bethel AME Church in nearby Copiague. The performance was part of a combined celebration between the Circle of Love Ministries and the Bethel AME Church on Dr. King’s birthday (observed). Parishioners and invited guests clapped their hands to the beat of the band, which was led by Director and AMHS music teacher John LaMarca. The students departed the church to a standing ovation, including that by Amityville Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Williams, who was in attendance.
