Former Community Member Gives Back to Our Students

AMHS would like to thank Ms. Lisa Cicchetti for bringing Mr. Derrick Davis’ inspiration and experience to our students!

Derrick Davis is a professional Broadway actor who has been acting since he was a young child. He has also been active in youth leadership for the past 14 years. He am currently employed by Disney Theatrical and is currently in the ensemble of The Lion King understudying the role of Mufasa.

He is excited to come and give back to the community in which he grew up, giving hope and encouragement to the next generation by revealing to them the joy and importance of literature and the arts. In addition, he desires to take a few moments to share with them the importance of looking towards the future, and consequently, understanding the importance of education.

He had a productive and inspiring day with the students of Amityville Memorial High School!

I learned that whatever you are motivated to do you should make sure to drive yourself on to making it reality. I also learned that if you let negative things get into your head you won't end up anywhere. One more thing is that everybody starts off as a beginner. No one ever became an expert over night. It takes challenges and failures, such as mistakes, to build you and mold you, making you the person who you are today. -Antionesha

Derrick Davis inspired me with his words of wisdom. He talked about how we should go towards our dreams and we could become whatever we want. Sky is the limit.
