Celebrating Black History and Heritage at Amityville High

Amityville Memorial High School students celebrated Black History Month with an entertaining assembly that allowed many of them to display their exceptional talents for their classmates. The celebration consisted of various song and dance segments, including a performance by the Jazz Ensemble, tributes to Bollywood and hip-hop, a fashion show, and a grand finale of “We Are the World.” Teacher Jason McGowan served as the emcee for the event and provided many useful facts about the great Black historical figures that have made an impact on the world through the years. Brenda King and the AMHS Interact Club were responsible for coordinating the entire program.
