Athletes Promote Reading, Love for Learning

Athletes from Amityville Memorial High School made a special trip to Park Avenue Memorial Elementary School to talk to younger students in the district not just about discipline on the playing field, but also about the important academic connection that defines Amityville’s athletes and the district athletic program in general. As part of their visit, high school students donned their Warriors garb and armed with books and enthusiasm, made their way to Park Avenue where they met with specific classes and groups of elementary students. The students not only shared some of their favorite children’s books with their friends at Park Avenue, but they also stressed the importance of reading and doing well in school. “This has been a fantastic learning experience for our students,” stated Park Avenue Assistant Principal Michael Febrarro. “The high school visitors that came here today are great role models for the district’s younger students.”
