Amityville Student Named Athlete of the Week by Newsday, Signs With Hofstra

Amityville Memorial High School Senior and Varsity Basketball Team member Steve Medard has received the prestigious distinction of being selected Athlete of the Week by Newsday. This is a coveted award that is reserved for the most notable athletes in the areas of skill and sportsmanship. “Steve is a phenomenal player,” said Coach Jack Agostino.†“In three games in one week, he recorded 89 points and 35 rebounds - that would be a career for most!”

Steve is also an accomplished football player, and recently signed with Hofstra University as a student and member of their team beginning in fall of 2009.
