Ryan Robinson featured in the Amityville Record
Amity student Ryan Robinson participates in Stonybrook art exhibit
For Ryan Robinson, a 12th-grade student at Amityville Memorial High School, Colors of Long Island refers to what lies under the surface. His oil pastel, titled Colorful X-Ray, is one of more than 300 works that will be displayed in the Colors of Long Island: Student Expressions exhibition at the Long Island Museum in Stony Brook through Feb. 1, 2009. This year's exhibition includes the largest number of participating schools - more than 120 since its inception in 1997.
Nidia Keaveny, a teacher at Amityville Memorial High School, and other art teachers in grades K through 12 from across Long Island were invited to submit up to three pieces of student artwork for this annual exhibition. The theme, Colors of Long Island, allows for many creative interpretations.
Located at 1200 Route 25A in Stony Brook, the Long Island Museum is a Smithsonian Affiliate dedicated to American history and art as it relates to Long Island. The museum is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. For additional information and directions, call 631-751-0066 or visit the museum web site at www.longislandmuseum.org
