AMHS Writer an Honored Essayist

Amanda Ramirez, a senior at Amityville Memorial High School, was recently honored for her essay submission in the Suffolk County Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration. Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy awarded Amanda a certificate of recognition for her essay about her heritage. Amanda participates in the Early Suffolk Community College Program and plans on studying creative writing and English in college with aspirations of a career in writing professionally. She is on the staff of the school newspaper ECHO and has contributed to the school’s literary magazine Expressions, as well as participating in the school drama club (as actress and president) and student government. She is also a former participant in the NYSSMA All-State Chorus, among many other impressive accomplishments.
