Amityville Students Excel in Academics and Leadership

The Amityville Public School District is pleased to congratulate two students on some noteworthy achievements they were recently rewarded for. Eleventh-grade student Alexandra Willenbrock was awarded the George Washington University School of Engineering and Applied Science Medal, which is reserved for a high school junior with the highest grade point average in math and science. In addition to her academic strengths, Alexandra is a natural leader in her school community, and as a result, was also awarded the Dartmouth Book Club Award. This honor is granted to a junior in the top 5% of his/her class who has demonstrated intellectual and social leadership and has made positive contributions to extracurricular activities.

Congratulations are also in order for Phoung Tran, who was presented the 2010 Award for Excellence in Science and Math from Lawrence Technical University. Phoung is now eligible to receive an $8,000 scholarship to attend this prestigious college if he chooses to attend this particular university over the others to which he has been accepted.
