A TRADITION OF HONOR AND EXCELLENCE
Amityville Memorial High School Students are Inducted into the National Honor Society
Continuing the district’s tradition of honor and excellence, 37 Amityville Memorial High School students were inducted into the Edward Reed Gage Chapter of the National Honor Society during the school’s 62nd traditional ceremony in the school’s auditorium. This esteemed society honors the best and the brightest students for their outstanding achievements, both in and outside of the classroom.
Amityville Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Williams congratulated the students on becoming a member of this prestigious national society. “The students being honored this evening are here because of their love of learning,” he stated.
In order to be considered for induction, the students must maintain a minimum 85 percent grade point average and fulfill the Society’s pillars of character, scholarship, leadership, and service.
During the ceremony Tierre Hobson and Alex Ynoa were presented with the Saint Michael’s Book Award for their sustained commitment to community service. In addition, graduating senior members presented certificates and recognized educators that have made a difference in their educational careers.
The Amityville Music Department also added an elegant touch to the ceremony with a musical interlude by Cherrelle Crews on piano and with the Amityville High School Jazz Band’s rendition of “Maiden Voyage.” After the ceremony, the students and their families were invited to the cafeteria for refreshments provided by the APTC (Amityville Parent-Teacher Council).
