AMITYVILLE RECOGNIZES THEIR BEST AND BRIGHTEST

Amityville Memorial High School’s highest achieving students were recognized for their outstanding academic excellence as they were inducted into the Edward Reed Gage Chapter of the prestigious National Honor Society. These students, who exemplify the society’s qualities of character, scholarship, leadership, service and citizenship, bring pride to the Amityville community and serve as role models for their peers.

For more than 80 years the National Honor Society has recognized the achievements and contributions of students nationwide. This year, during the district’s 61st induction ceremony, 30 students were inducted, bringing the Amityville National Honor Society membership to more than 70 students. “Our students are enrolled in the most challenging courses and are accepted to the most prestigious colleges and universities,” stated Superintendent of Schools Dr. John R. Williams. “We are proud to recognize their achievements and leadership.”

As part of the program, members of the National Honor Society paid tribute to selected educators who had contributed to their success and made a significant impact on their values and self-esteem. More than 40 educators were on hand to be honored for the contribution they have made to the lives and futures of the students they serve. In closing, Amityville Memorial High School Principal Dr. Scott Andrews reminded everyone that these students could not have achieved their success alone. “Congratulations to the parents, guardians, and staff who have made this evening possible,” stated Dr. Andrews. “Congratulations to the newest members of Amityville Memorial High School’s National Honor Society.”
